From Grandma's Table to God's Feast: A Recipe for Revival

I love big families! Growing up, there were twelve cousins on mom’s side of the family. We would gather on the farm every summer and early fall to help harvest soybeans, tobacco, corn, and huge gardens. And my grandmother—oh, she could cook! Her biscuits and vegetables could revive even the weariest soul. Maybe it was her secret ingredients, or maybe it was the love we tasted in every bite.

Four golden-brown biscuits on a wooden board, with a rolling pin and flour in the blurred background. Warm, rustic kitchen setting.

But as good as her cooking was, God’s recipe for revival is even better. His food fills empty hearts and satisfies anxious souls. Nothing nourishes like Jesus, the Bread of Life and the Master Chef, who feeds us all with hope, peace, and joy.

The satisfaction from physical food can’t compare to the feast found at Jesus’ table. Every day, He invites us to sit down, rest, and be filled with His living Word.

This week, make time to sit with Him: worship, ask, seek, and knock. That’s His true recipe for revival.

Lord, help us slow down this week and feast in Your presence. Empty us of ourselves and fill us with all that You are. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
