Hands clasped in prayer over an open Bible with visible text. Warm lighting creates a calm, reflective mood, highlighting the pages.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."  Trusting in what God says rather than relying on our own understanding is one of the hardest disciplines in the Christian life. After all, we are human—shaped by human minds, desires, challenges, and shortcomings.

And finding delight in God when life feels like it's falling apart is no easier. Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." It doesn’t say to delight in His provision, His answers, or His favor. It calls us to delight in Him. In His very being. He is the Supreme Creator who reigns from Heaven yet intimately knows every detail of our lives. That is the God we are called to take joy in; His sovereignty, His character, His presence.

As we seek His will and righteousness in our attitudes and actions, our hearts are gradually retrained. Over time, we begin to let go of our self-centered desires and embrace His ways and plans for our lives. When we make the choice to turn away from the empty promises of this world—its fame, wealth, and fleeting pleasures—and instead, pursue God Himself, He aligns us with the life He has purposefully designed for us.

And nothing can take away those promises secured in His eternal Word. We can rest in the certainty that God, who cannot lie, will never break His promises. Proverbs 3:5-6 proclaims: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Rainbow arches over misty mountains at sunrise, vibrant sky with clouds and golden sunlight, creating a serene and uplifting scene.

Can you imagine Noah and his family hearing thunder for the first time after enduring the flood?! That thought really highlights how fear and anxiety can resurface when we're reminded of past hardships. Yet, the promise of God's faithfulness, symbolized by the rainbow, reassures us that He won't take us through the same storm again. His grace and presence are our safe refuge, just as He called Noah into the ark—into His grace— where they were all protected from the chaos outside.
